Eyelid Aesthetics

The eyes are the focal points at first glance. Therefore, the changes that occur over time around the eyes also become the focal point. The thinnest skin in our body is around the eyes and the first sign of aging occurs in this area. First, wrinkles around the eyes begin to appear. Over time, excess skin on the upper eyelid, bags on the lower lid, drooping of the eyebrows, dimples in the eyes, and tissue loss in the mid-face may accompany to varying degrees. These changes can often be caused by sagging of the skin and subcutaneous tissue due to the effect of gravity, reduction and displacement of the fat tissue around the eyes, and volume loss in the supporting bone tissue. This gives the person a more tired and old appearance than they are. In addition, excess skin on the upper eyelid can narrow the eye opening and cause a decrease in the visual field.
Even if the changes that occur over time around the eyes can be corrected with non-surgical methods until a certain age, some surgical interventions become necessary for more effective results after a while. Although the surgical procedure is mostly performed at the age of 30 and after, it can be performed earlier according to the needs of the person.

In eyelid aesthetics, the upper eyelid and lower eyelid can be intervened separately or simultaneously, depending on the need. The procedure is performed in combination with local anesthesia and, in some cases, additional sleep-inducing drugs (sedation). It is a procedure that takes between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours on average, depending on the needs of the person and the structures involved. Incisions are made through the skin folds according to previous measurements and planning. Excess skin, herniated adipose tissue and, in some cases, some muscle tissue are removed. It is aimed to create a soft transition zone between the eyelid and cheek by replacing the fat tissue on the lower lid. In addition, in cases where there is a decrease in fat and bone tissue, fat injections and facial implants should be included in the treatment.
Tapes are placed in the incision areas after the surgery in a way that does not obstruct vision. There will be varying degrees of swelling and bruising around the eyes for the first 2 days. It starts to regress after the 3rd day. 4-5. tapes are removed. At the end of the first week on average, the person returns to his normal life.
